T-Mobile’s G1 or more popularly called the Google phone would be the first Android based handset available in the market. The phone manufactured by HTC has all the features of a smartphone but would it be as reliable as a Windows Mobile or a Symbian operating system?

On a first look at the HTC G1, you would think it is similar to the Nokia’s Internet Tablet devices or HTC’s own HTC Touch Diamond or the Touch Pro. The phone is also very different from an iPhone making it incomparable and one that caters to a completely different audience. Well, it’s at least 100 times better than a iPhone.

Music: The Google Phone for T-Mobile has a pre-loaded application from Amazon with which one can download their favorite DRM-free 6 million MP3 tracks. However, downloading music from Amazon MP3 would require a Wi-Fi connection.

Android Market: The new Android open source operating system has its own feature called the Android Market which has a whole load of applications and services from worldwide developers.

ShopSavvy: Android application to help you do a comparative shopping. Users can scan the UPC code of a product with their Google Phone’s camera during shopping and compare product prices from online merchants with the nearby local store.

This might sound confusing and interesting. “Google me, you dumb F##k”. Those are the exact words which came out of Courtenay Semel, daughter of Former Yahoo CEO Terry Semel. For ones who are addicted to reality shows, she’s the one who appeared in Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive and the one who dates reality star and singer Tila Tequila.

A security guard on duty at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has filed a lawsuit against the daughter of former Yahoo CEO Terry Semel for allegedly hitting him on his face while she was drunk.

In the lawsuit filed today in Los Angles County Superior Court, Jaroslaw Jarczok who was working as the security last August at 4:00 AM at PURE Nightclub stated in the suit that Courtenay was “quite intoxicated due to alcohol and/or chemical or other substances.” He has also stated that she acted rude and dirty.

Things got out of hand and Jarczok had to handcuff Semel who then struck Jarczok on his face and spoke the immortal words:

“Do you even know who I am, f##king idiot? Google me, you dumb f##k.”

Jarczok has further stated in his lawsuit that he has been humiliated and “anxious about receiving harassing comments by friends…” Jarczok also claims for unspecified damages.

Certain words can never be spoken by certain people. Even when they are drunk or dead!

Mr Semel had joined Yahoo in 2001 when Yahoo’s fortunes were at an all time low due to the collapse of dotcom boom. Semel had helped Yahoo come out of its pit to a certain extent and be an active competitor in the business. However, Google grew more than anyone ever expected and brought down Yahoo from its dominance.

When Semel’s departure was informed, Yahoo’s shares rose 3% immediately.

Google has introduced Gmail for its first Android-powered phone, T-Mobile G1. Gmail for Android has more to offer than for Symbian and Windows Mobile.

T-Mobile G1, also called the Google cell phone is the worlds first cell phone with an Android open-source operating system. The phone has been developed with partnership with HTC, Google and the Open Handset Alliance.

Google has introduced a new feature for tax and shipping estimation on Google Product Search. Google Base users can now submit their tax and shipping information for their products through their Google Base accounts.

Though Google has mentioned that it is yet to make the information live to shoppers, it has requested sellers to start submitting their tax and shipping details. These details can be submitted in two ways.

1. By setting default values directly in Google Base account under the new “Tax and Shipping settings” tab in the “Settings” section
2. Tax and shipping information can also be submitted by including the values under tax and shipping attributes in the product data feeds. Any inclusion in data feeds will automatically override default account values.

You should be aware that Google has bought Feedburner and that would mean you can display Google Adsense ads on your Feedburner RSS. This can increase your revenue potential as more ads can help you earn more revenue.

Steps to add Adsense ads in Feedburner RSS:

1. Login to your Feedburner Account
2. Choose the feed you wish to have Adsense ads displayed
3. Click on the “Monetize” tab on the top menu as shown in the image below.
4. You would be directed to a page Configure Ads page which requests your Adsense email address and postal code or phone number for verification.
5. Provide the necessary information and click “Sign In”
6. Once you provide the details, you would receive a verification email from Google Adsense. The verification email would contain a link. Clicking on the link will activate your Google Adsense account to link with Feedburner Account.
7. Now, go to the same “Monetize” page as before
8. You would now see an “Activate” button to activate the service. Click on the button.
9. Hurray! You can now create Adsense ad format, shapes and colors similar to how you create in Google Adsense for your website or your blog.
10. Similarly, if you have multiple RSS feeds, you need to activate the feature for each feed individually.

Google Adsense on Feedburner RSS is a great way to increase your CTR. However, currently Google supports only 300 x 250 and 468 x 60 ad formats. Also, you do not have the option to display only text ads. Hope Google will come with additional features soon.

Google has introduced Gmail for mobile version 2.0 for J2ME-supported and BlackBerry phones. Google mentions that this version would make the experience faster and more reliable.

The following features are highlighted by the Google Mobile team at its Google Mobile Blog:- Overall performance improvement: You should experience significant raw speed improvement, smoother scrolling, and no freezing.- Multiple accounts management: If you have both a Gmail and Google Apps email account, you can easily switch between them quickly. You will no longer have to use two different mobile apps to access personal and work emails.

- Multiple mobile email drafts: You can save multiple email drafts in your mobile phone, so that you can pick and choose what you would like to send later.

- Powerful shortcut keys: If you have a QWERTY phone, you can use shortcut keys. Hit ‘z’ to undo, ‘k’ to go to a newer conversation, and ‘j’ to go to an older conversation. See Menu/Help in the app for more shortcuts.

-    Basic offline support: Can’t get a signal? Not a problem. You can compose and read your most recent emails even when there is no signal. Also, any outgoing messages will be saved in the outbox on your phone and sent automatically when you’re back in coverage.

The new version can be downloaded using your compatible mobile at m.google.com/mail . The mobile 2.0 Gmail is also available in over 35 languages.

Yahoo announced that the Inquisitor Safari Plug-in would now be available for Internet Explorer and Firefox users. Yahoo Inquisitor is similar to its Search Assist or the Google Suggest tool. However, it also provides few related websites to choose from.

Yahoo states on its download page that, “Inquisitor understands you, learning and tailoring your results as you search. You can also add more search engines with customized keyboard shortcuts.”. Downloads are available as beta versions currently for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Further in Yahoo Search blog, the Inquisitor team explain, “We’ve also included a bookmark-based retrieval feature for IE. So, if you are looking for a page you bookmarked a few months ago, say an expense report guide on your local Intranet, you won’t need to fumble around your hundreds of bookmarks and folders to find that page. A simple search in Inquisitor will bring it right up.”

But when I finished my course, there was no information about placements. When I went along with my batch mates and asked them, they mentioned that they will only guide us how to get a job and asked us to update our resumes in Naukri, Times Jobs and Monster. This was disappointing. Don’t we know how to update our resumes in job portals?” She further stated, “In the end, they did not even provide a course completion certificate rather a participation certificate after spending 30,000 rupees. It was a huge mistake I chose this institute“

Crash Courses

Do not join crash courses. You would just end up spending the money in few days instead of months. You would not be able to coupe with the speed and end up confused. Always take time while learning. You need time to learn, practice and prepare to become a technical writer.

Facilities

Check how the center is equipped to provide you all the training that is required. If the center has few computers and the student strength is outnumbered, it’s just not the right technical writing center you need to choose. The center should also have at least the most important softwares:

1. Robohelp
2. Frame Maker
3. Adobe Photoshop
4. Visio

Make sure that they also provide all required study materials. Remember you are shelling out a 5 digit fees and that’s no small a number. You need to get for what you pay.

Syllabus

An ideal technical writing course would start with the basics of writing, the difference between a content writer and a technical writer and basic writing tips, tricks and techniques.

The technical aspects of a syllabus would touch html, xml, css and should spend sufficient hours to make a newbie aware of what they are. The course should end with excellent training on Robo Help, Frame Maker and Visio – the three most common Technical Writing Tools.

If the technical writing institute is also willing to teach you Photoshop and some basic designing and formatting tips it is an added goodie to your course package.

And finally, it’s the English writing skills that finally counts. Technical Writing is just not for everyone. You can enjoy your job and excel in this lucrative career if you have a real passion for writing.
