Google’s Unfair Premium Publisher Preferences

Have you noticed how some sites have Google Adsense which does not even give the least hint that it is an advertisement? They do not have underlines, no borders, no sizes and not even a clear mentioning that they are ads by Google. Continue Reading

How to Display Google Adsense in Feedburner RSS

You should be aware that Google has bought Feedburner and that would mean you can display Google Adsense ads on your Feedburner RSS. This can increase your revenue potential as more ads can help you earn more revenue.

Steps to add Adsense ads in Feedburner RSS:

  1. Login to your Feedburner Account
  2. Choose the feed you wish to have Adsense ads displayed
  3. Click on the “Monetize” tab on the top menu as shown in the image below.
  4. You would be directed to a page Configure Ads page which requests your Adsense email address and postal code or phone number for verification.
  5. Provide the necessary information and click “Sign In”
  6. Once you provide the details, you would receive a verification email from Google Adsense. The verification email would contain a link. Clicking on the link will activate your Google Adsense account to link with Feedburner Account.
  7. Now, go to the same “Monetize” page as before
  8. You would now see an “Activate” button to activate the service. Click on the button.
  9. Hurray! You can now create Adsense ad format, shapes and colors similar to how you create in Google Adsense for your website or your blog.
  10. Similarly, if you have multiple RSS feeds, you need to activate the feature for each feed individually.

Google Adsense Ads in Feedburner RSS

Google Adsense on Feedburner RSS is a great way to increase your CTR. However, currently Google supports only 300 x 250 and 468 x 60 ad formats. Also, you do not have the option to display only text ads. Hope Google will come with additional features soon.

Google Adsense Payment Delay

Are you waiting for more than two months for the Google Adsense Check to arrive? You are not alone. There are Publishers waiting for more than 4 to 6 months. Google Adsense payments are delayed for many publishers especially in India and United Kingdom.

Google seems to be delaying the payment even though it informs that the payment has been made in the Google Adsense account. Publishers have been waiting for 4 months or more. This delay actually can give huge profit for Google as it would be having the publishers hard earned money in their pockets. The longer your money stays with them, the higher interest they earn out of it.

Google Adsense is where Google earns most of its revenue. Google has to provide a proper customer support system where publishers would receive a reply from real humans instead of an automated help section.

It is depressing to read the statement “Due to the high volume of emails we receive, we provide limited email support for a small set of issues” in its contact us page. It looks like Google is treating Adsense as a non-profit service and hence it does not have money to provide a proper support.

Google Adsense Scrollbar

Google Adsense publishers would have noticed a scrollbar popup on the corners of their website ads. Clicking on the Ad Scrollbar up or down makes the ad space display a new set of advertisements.

Google Adsense has been constantly updating its marketing strategy to be beneficial for advertisers and publishers. The recent drop in Click Thru Rates, Pay Per Click and Conversion rates has forced PPC companies to try new strategies and increase the revenue on both ends.

Recently, Google had some of its Google Adsense guidelines changed and had requested publishers to differentiate between an Ad and the site content.

However, there are mixed responses from publishers and advertisers whether the new scrollbar would increase or decrease the click thru rate.

New Google Adsense Guidelines

Google has instructed publishers not to blend Google Ads with the content. The new Google Adsense placement guidelines can affect at least 60% of Adsense users.

Many publishers place Google Ads right below the topic or in between an article to increase clicks. Some publishers have even resorted to show Google Ads as a horizontal or vertical menu forcing visitors to click on it thinking it’s the website menu. Continue Reading

Google Adsense Referral Units Expire End of Jan 08

Google has informed that the Adsense referral program would expire by the end of January 2008. It has also requested the Adsense referral users to remove the referral ad unit and replace with another ad unit from Google or display any products or services. This has frustrated many web owners who display these referral programs.

A copy of its mail is displayed below:

Hello,

We are writing to share some important information with you about referrals to the AdSense product. As part of ongoing efforts to optimize revenue opportunities for our publishers, we’re
constantly experimenting with new revenue-enhancing features as well as tweaking those products already available to our publishers. This is the case for referral units directing visitors
to sign up for AdSense. After experimenting with this program over the past year, we’ve concluded that there are other products that are of higher value than this program to publishers in your region. As a result, referral units for the AdSense program will be retired in the coming weeks. Referrals to other products and services remain unaffected.

If you’re currently displaying referral units on your site directing users to sign up for AdSense, read on below for details about what to expect in the coming weeks.

In early January, the option to add referral units directing users to the AdSense product will no longer appear in your account. You will continue to accrue earnings for all existing referrals yet to
generate $100 until late January, at which point the program will be fully retired. Existing referral units will continue to appear on your pages.

By the end of January, you should remove all referral units directing users to AdSense from your pages. Referral units that you do not remove will continue to be displayed on your pages
as normal, but conversions will no longer be recorded. We suggest you replace the AdSense referrals with referrals to another product or service or an additional ad unit.

Thank you for referring users to AdSense in the past. We apologize for any inconvenience this news may cause.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team
