Google Joins Denmark in Climate Change Awareness

The Global Internet Leader Google has collaborated with the Danish Government to increase global awareness and engagement on climate change. This will allow users to share their thoughts on climate change. This collaboration comes ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference 2009 (COP 15).


YouTube for Climate Change Awareness
The Denmark government plays the host for the COP 15 conference 2009. Google with its collaboration would facilitate Denmark to allow users to make their voices heard through sharing videos in YouTube. Through YouTube, users can share their opinion, questions and suggestions. YouTube will also include videos that portray behind scenes of the conference.

Use of Google Earth on Climate Change
Google has further visualized climate change information on Google Earth and also Google Map. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) played a vital part in providing information.

A TV-transmitted Debate
Google is also planning a TV-transmitted Townhall debate during COP15 with the help of CNN. Questions and suggestions submitted by YouTube users on climate change would be discussed and broadcast to the worldwide audience using CNN.

Call to Action
There will also be a “Call to Action” video by HRH the Crown Prince of Denmark and the Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Lokke Rasmussen.
